CES 2019: Panasonic GZ2000 4K HDR OLED TV Although we tend to expect more from brands like Samsung, Sony and LG when it comes to technological innovation and high-end TVs, the once-formidable Panasonic continues to surprise us with interesting new products. After betting big (and failing) on plasma technology, Panasonic has gone back to the more reliable LED technology for most of its new TVs. And like other brands, it's also trying its hand at OLED. The company has launched a new TV at CES 2019, the GZ2000 4K HDR OLED TV. The new Panasonic GZ2000 sports a 4K resolution OLED panel which has been colour-tuned by Stefan Sonnenfeld, a Hollywood-acclaimed colourist. Along with the better capabilities of OLED panels, this could make the Panasonic GZ2000 one of the most accurate TVs around when it comes to colour. You also get HDR compatibility, with support for both the HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards. Another ...

Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition First Impressions: First was the Vivo NEX that came with a motorized pop-up selfie camera, followed by Oppo Find X that came with motorized pop-up front and rear cameras. More recently, the Honor Magic 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 have featured a slider design with the camera hidden under the slider. Vivo went with another crazy concept of having two screens to kill the notch with the NEX Dual Display Edition smartphone. Though it was launched in China towards the end of the year, Vivo isn’t planning to take the smartphone to the global markets yet. Performance wise, the smartphone is no slouch either. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 10GB of RAM, and 128GB storage. However, it does carry a hefty price tag of RMB 4,998, which is roughly Rs 52,400 in India. I had a chance to play around with the dual screen smartphone for a bit, and here are my first impressions.

The Most Minimalist Phone - Punkt MP-02 phone: We were introduced to Swiss company Punkt’s MP01 phone during the recent minimalist phone trend, which brought us the new wave of “dumbphones” that do nothing but call and text. Now the company has responded to customer critiques like, “It’s not very good for calling and texting,” by releasing a second version of its phone called the MP02. The new model looks pretty much identical to its predecessor, but now it’s upgraded from 2G to 4G LTE, and adds built-in Blackberry Secure encryption and threaded text messaging. Should you decide that, actually, you do want to use the internet, you can also use the phone as a hotspot to connect to a tablet or laptop. The old MP01 is still being sold on Punkt’s site after taking a price cut, but it’s likely that the MP02 came about since 2G networks are shutting down across the world and will render the MP01 unusable. The ph...
